Our camera bit it.......and some new studio shots

Yesterday we had a productive day in the studio. In the middle of our second shoot, I dropped our camera. Never have I seen a camera bounce so well, almost as if it were designed for that very purpose. When I picked it up, the mirror was flipped up permanently and another part (that I believe is used in autofocusing) was lodged shut. I pushed the unknown part up and now there is ghosting in the viewfinder and the autofocus doesn't work. Now, this wouldn't be a big problem if this were an old camera, which usually possess little areas in the viewfinder to let you know when something is out of focus. Digital cameras, however, not so. So, I had to cut the studio session short and admit to my husband that I broke his engagement "ring". He was overjoyed, especially when I suggested we buy a new Canon 40D ;)

Yesterday, the final pictures taken by our productive digital rebel, are above. The model is Jena, one of the most adorable young'uns I've ever seen. I've learned a little bit about shooting two-year olds. You have to be patient, and let them be themselves. Confining them to poses is a recipe for disaster. All you can do is suggest, and if they feel like doing it, they will. I found we had some hilarious results, although the ones I am showing are ones where she mostly complied. Her parents are pros at this, so I thank them for the shots!
